Tom Cruise called a saviour of cinema?

As Mission Impossible — The Final Reckoning is rocking at the box office, Hideo Kojima — the noted film critic — said Tom Cruise had saved the cinema.

On X, he shared his thoughts on the latest action film after watching it on the big screen. “Went to see Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning in IMAX. It begins with Tom greeting the audience and ends with a glance he throws our way.”

Tom Cruise saved Hollywood?

He continued, “This wasn’t a film about Ethan Hunt saving the world from the threat of digital domination – it was a film about Tom Cruise putting his life on the line in a desperate struggle to save cinema itself, which is slowly vanishing from the world.”

Hideo added, “It was the movie of a man who lives and breathes film. I still want to see him keep making the impossible possible. I hope this series continues. At 61, I’m proud to be a follower of Tom, who’s 62.”

It is not the first Tom was hailed as a ‘saviour’ of cinema. Previously, noted director Steven Spielberg also credited the megastar for saving Hollywood.

His remarks echoed the crisis the pandemic sparked in the film industry at the time, leading many theatres and studios to shut down.

However, during the upheaval, Tom marched on with the release of his second installment of Top Gun, which became a top hit and arguably revived the cinema.
