PM Shehbaz, President Erdogan discuss regional & global issues
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on Sunday discussed bilateral ties, war against terrorism and regional and international matters during a meeting in Istanbul, Turkiye.
Upon arrival at the Presidential Palace in Istanbul, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was warmly welcomed by Turkish President Erdogan, who personally greeted the visiting delegation.
In a one-on-one meeting, both leaders discussed Pakistan-Türkiye relations in depth. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude to President Erdogan for Türkiye’s consistent support during times of Indian aggression.
The two leaders emphasized the importance of regional peace and stressed joint efforts in combating terrorism.
A delegation-level meeting was also held between the two countries, attended by Field Marshal Asim Munir. Other notable members of the Pakistani delegation included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Ataullah Tarar, and Tariq Fatemi.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received an exceptional reception upon his arrival in Istanbul.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is undertaking a six-day visit from May 25 to 30, 2025, during which he will visit Türkiye, Iran, Azerbaijan, and Tajikistan. The visit aims to discuss matters of bilateral cooperation and issues of regional and international significance.
