Five-days Eid-ul-Adha 2025 holidays announced

Qatar has announced a five-day public holiday for Eid-ul-Adha, starting from the 9th to the 13th of Dhul Hijjah, in line with Islamic tradition.

The exact dates will be confirmed after the moon-sighting committee convenes on May 27.

Sources say that if the moon is seen on the expected evening, the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah will start on May 28. If not, it will begin on May 29. This means Arafah Day, the holiest day in Islam, will be either on Thursday, June 5, or Friday, June 6. Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated the day after Arafah Day.

In the UAE, Arafah Day will be a public holiday, followed by a three-day Eid break from June 6 to June 8. However, these dates will only be confirmed once the moon is officially sighted.

Eid-ul-Adha is one of the most important Islamic holidays. It honors Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God.
